Choosing an immigration consultant is an important decision. The right consultant helps you understand your options clearly. The wrong one can cost you money and time. This checklist will help you compare consultants in the UAE, whichever company you choose.
1. Check the company is properly registered
Ask for the company’s trade license number and check that the company name on the license matches the name on the website, invoices and contracts. A registered company should share this openly. For example, vxglobal.co is operated by VX Global (FZE), Trade License No. 7186.
2. Visit a real office
A physical office with a clear address is a good sign. Book a meeting and see how the team explains things in person.
3. Be careful with guarantees
No consultant can guarantee a visa, work permit or residence. Every decision is made by the government authority of the destination country. Treat promises of guaranteed approval, or unusually high success percentages, with caution.
4. Check the information against official sources
Immigration rules change often. A good consultant explains the current rules and points you to the official government website, such as Canada.ca, GOV.UK, Australia’s Department of Home Affairs or Immigration New Zealand. You can check these yourself at any time.
5. Understand job offers and recruitment fees
Most work permits need a genuine job offer from an employer in the destination country. Be very careful if anyone asks you to pay for a job offer. Some countries prohibit this. For example, Immigration New Zealand says employers and agents cannot charge you fees for a job or recruitment costs under its Accredited Employer Work Visa.
6. Know when a licensed adviser is required
Some countries require certain immigration advice to be given only by licensed advisers or lawyers in that country. Ask the consultant how they handle this for your destination.
7. Keep copies of everything
Keep copies of your documents, receipts and messages. You should always be able to see what is submitted in your name.
